Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a three-member survey committee to investigate Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Lands Scandal.
Senator Faisal Vawda had claimed that valuable land belonging to Port Qasim Authority was rented at underrated prices during the current government’s term of office, Express News reported.
According to a review issued by the Prime Minister’s office, the land in question was allocated to small and medium -sized industrial parks, and the committee with three members will investigate financial irregularities in its lease process.
The President of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission has been appointed to collect the committee, while intelligence agency (IB) Director Sirajuddin Amjad and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director Syed Shahid Hussain will act as members.
According to a notification issued by the PM office, the Investigation Committee will investigate financial irregularities in the leasing of PQA land, which was awarded to small and medium-sized industrial parks.
In addition, it will examine the factors considered by the PQA board when deciding on a settlement outside the court with the petitioner.
Under the reference conditions (Thurs), the Committee will investigate whether Port Qasim Authority (PQA) reassessed the country’s value before the settlement and whether the current market rates were considered in the decision -making process.
The committee will also decide why the offer outside the court was not immediately withdrawn after the petitioner refused. In addition, it will identify government issues that have contributed to delays in the dissolution process.
The committee has been authorized to include additional members if necessary to help with the investigation. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs will provide secretary support. The Investigation Committee is obliged to submit its report to the Prime Minister within two weeks.
It is noteworthy that Port Qasim Authority Country Education appeared during a meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs after revelations from Senator Faisal Vawda.
