Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Sunday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening Pakistan-Azerbaijan band, said the Prime Minister’s office (PMO). He was received by senior Azerbaijanian officials after landing in Heydar Aliyev International Airport, according to PMO.
During his visit, he is scheduled to meet Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and other top officials to discuss the expansion of bilateral trade, investment, energy cooperation, defense cooperation and cultural exchanges. Leaders will also explore joint efforts for climate change.
“Discussions will focus on further strengthening bilateral connections, expanding trade and investments, improving cooperation in the energy sector, synergizing efforts to deal with climate change, elaborating defense cooperation and promoting cultural exchanges,” PMO said.
Several agreements and appointment morandum (Mous) are expected to be signed during the visit.
As part of his engagements, Shehbaz and Azerbaijan leaders will turn to Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum on Monday. The forum will bring together business leaders from both nations to explore trading opportunities and joint ventures with emphasis on business-to-business cooperation.
The PM Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of Commerce Kamal Khan, Investment and Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Overseas Pakistanis Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Tariq FATEMI.
