Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday praised the United States to help the broker with a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and credited President Donald Trump’s leadership for the breakthrough.
His remarks came under a heartfelt phone call with US State Secretary Marco Rubio, where both sides discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
According to an official release, the Prime Minister also thanked Secretary Rubio for Washington’s role in helping ease the Pakistan-India-weapon whoever and called it a meaningful contribution to regional stability.
The two leaders agreed to continue working close to strengthening the relations between Pakistan and the US with a focus on expanding trade and financial cooperation.
As he discussed the broader situation in the Middle East, Shehbaz Pakistan’s obligation to play a constructive role in promoting peace throughout the region confirmed.
Secretary Rubio welcomed Pakistan’s efforts and expressed the US’s interest in cooperating to ensure long -term regional stability.
Iran-Israel conflict
Israeli’s bombing campaign launched with a surprise attack on June 13, wiped out the supreme link in Iran’s military leadership, killing leading nuclear researchers.
Iran responded with missiles that pierced Israel’s defense in large numbers for the first time.
Iranian authorities said 627 people were killed and nearly 5,000 wounded in Iran, where the extent of the injury could not be confirmed independently due to tight restrictions on the media.
Twenty -eight people were killed in Israel.
Israel claimed to have achieved his goals of destroying Iran’s nuclear places and missiles; Iran claimed to have forced the end of the war by entering Israeli defense.
During the war, both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump suggested publicly that it could end up overthrowing Iran’s entire system of spiritual regime established in his revolution in 1979.
But after the ceasefire, Trump said he did not want to see “regime shift” in Iran, as he said would bring chaos at a time when he wanted the situation to settle.
In both Iran and Israel, however, residents expressed relief at the end of the fighting, but also fear.
