Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Malaysia on Sunday on a three-day official visit to invitation from his Malaysian colleague Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.
A high -level delegation consisting of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and senior officials, also accompanies the prime minister, said the Foreign Office.
Before his departure, the Prime Minister said he was looking forward to an extensive exchange of views with Prime Minister Ibrahim and expressed confidence that Pakistan-Malaysia connections will continue to flourish through improved financial and strategic commitment.
“I will take on an official visit to Malaysia from October 5 to 7 on invitation from my dear brother, Prime Minister Ibrahim. Looking forward to a comprehensive exchange of views on our joint desire to improve trade and financial commitment as well as bilateral cooperation in various areas,” the prime minister at X.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral conversations with his Malaysian counterpart and will discuss important regional and global developments, FO added.
“The two leaders will also consider improving bilateral cooperation in trade to explore opportunities for further cooperation in trade, IT, telecommunications, halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, digital economy and people-to-people-tape,” noted IT.
The Ministry also said that both leaders are expected to witness the signing of agreements and Mous for cooperation in several existing and new sectors.
“The visit emphasizes Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthen the ties with Malaysia.”
The Pakistani side looks forward to mutually advantageous engagements in Malaysia and is based on the solid foundations of friendship and collaboration found between our two nations.
“The visit reflects a strong and sustained strategic partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia, which is rooted in mutual respect, common interests and close cooperation across a wide range of sectors,” the declaration concluded.
