Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday to consider the most important national issues, including the country’s financial challenges and rising tensions with India.

The meeting was held in the Sharif family’s residence in Jati Umra, Raiwind, according to party sources cited by Express news.

The leaders allegedly assessed the current political landscape and the consequences of regional development, especially the fall of a deadly attack in IIOJK and the subsequent diplomatic burden.

Pahaldam -attack and diplomatic demand

On April 22, 26 people were killed in an attack on a tourist site in Pahagam, located in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India accused Pakistan of involvement without presenting evidence – an allegation Islamabad refused strongly.

The Indian government responded by announcing several measures, including the closure of the border crossing of Wagah-Attari, issued travel guides against Pakistan and suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.

In return, Pakistan’s National Security Committee warned that any disturbance of the flow of water would be considered an act of war. Pakistan’s Senate also adopted a decision that rejects India’s claims.
