Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was awarded an honorary guard in Tashkent on Wednesday when he arrived at the Congress Center to meet Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for high -level discussions.
The Uzbek leader received Prime Minister Shehbaz on arrival, with both countries’ national hymns playing before the prime minister underwent a military guard along with Mirziyoyev.
The two leaders introduced their respective delegations before continuing with bilateral conversations and delegation levels where discussions will focus on trade, investment, regional connection, security and defense cooperation.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan are expected to sign several agreements and the Memorandum Sum (Mous) aimed at strengthening ties across different sectors.
A joint press conference will follow the signing ceremony.
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz will address Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, where he will highlight investment opportunities and ways to improve economic cooperation.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also tours Tashkent’s Techno Park to observe Uzbekistan’s progress in industrial and construction technology.
PM Shehbaz is accompanied by a high -level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Investment Minister Abdul Aleem Khan.
Earlier this week, Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to increase bilateral investment to $ 2 billion focusing on mutually advantageous projects.
The decision was made during conversations between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev at the Baku presidential palace on Monday.
When he spoke at a common news conference, PM said that all political parties in Pakistan are united in their efforts to strengthen the tape with Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the cordial relationship between the two countries should be expanded to include financial cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that the memorandum of understanding (Mous) signed during the visit with expected agreements in April will significantly contribute to future economic growth and mutual success.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening defense relationships between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and noticing the obligation for the joint presentation of defense equipment, which he believes will have far -reaching effects.
