Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to maintain a close partnership with the United States to promote regional peace and stability.

In a statement sent on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Sharif gratitude expressed to US President Donald Trump to recognize Pakistan’s central role in the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan has always played a key role in terrorist efforts, and works to deprive terrorists and extremist groups of safe ports and prevent their operations against any country.

He added that Pakistan’s willingness to fight terrorism remains strong, referring to the victims of over 80,000 brave soldiers and civilians in the fight.

PM Shehbaz further emphasized that Pakistan’s leadership and people remain steadfast in their decision to eliminate terrorism and take any possible measure to achieve this goal. He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to work closely with the United States to promote peace and stability in the region.

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to Pakistan for his role in the arrest of an important terrorist involved in the bombing of Kabul airport in 2021, a deadly attack that demanded life for 13 US officials and about 170 Afghan civilians.

Talking before a joint congressional meeting, Trump published the message and said, “Three and a half years ago, one [Daesh] Terrorist killed 13 US service members and countless others in the bombing of Abbey Gate. Tonight I am pleased to announce that we have just arrested the supreme terrorist responsible for that cruelty. And he is on his way right now to meet the quick sword of American justice. “

After revealing the arrest, Trump took a moment to thank the Pakistani government for his cooperation in the operation.

“I especially want to thank the Pakistani government for helping arrest this monster,” Trump said. “This was a very important day for the 13 families I got to know very well if children were murdered on the fateful day.”

The Abbey Gate bombing took place in August 2021 during the chaotic American withdrawal from Afghanistan, which Trump again criticized as a failure of the Biden administration.

“Not that they withdrew, but that was the way they withdrew,” Trump noted. “Perhaps the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country.”

In a significant political shift, the Trump administration recently approved $ 397 million for Pakistan’s maintenance of F-16 fleet, which turned a previous freezing of foreign aid. The funds are strictly awarded to terror visits with a US monitored program in place to prevent use against India, according to a Reuters report.

Despite an executive order that stops overseas funding, the United States has awarded approx. 5.3 billion dollars in security -related exceptions in which Pakistan’s allocation is one of 243
