Lahore:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday expressed strong concern about what he named delay of tactics from the legal team of PTI’s basic chairman Imran Khan in an RS10 billion defamation case.
The Prime Minister, who acceded to the procedure via video link for a judge judge, said “a waste of time cannot be tolerated at any cost.”
The case comes from Imran Khan’s claims that Shehbaz had offered him bribery to withdraw the Panama Papers case.
From the start, Shehbaz’s lawyer pointed out that the PTI founder’s lawyers had not appeared in time despite repeated directions.
He told the court that the prime minister had traveled from Doha specifically for the hearing, while the opposing lawyer arrived 45 minutes late.
In one approach to court, the Prime Minister said: “Judge SaBib allows the constitution to continue in accordance with the law. I appear before this court with responsibility, but Imran Khan’s advice has already sought five interruptions.”
Later, Imran Khan’s Council Muhammad Hussain Chottia claimed that no deliberate delay was caused and argued that he had only sought a postponement. He also pointed out that the legal procedure regarding the first appearances for superior courts was clear.
