PM, the UN Chief discussing the next step to building on 10 May truce

In the wake of recent conflict with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Diplomatic Outreach and held discussions with world leaders about factors that brought peace in the region of the region, reiterating that Pakistan wanted peace in South Asia and in this spirit agreed to understand the ceasefire with India.

According to a press release from PM Office Media Wing, the Prime Minister held telephone calls with the president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as well as with the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

During his telephone interaction with the UN Secretary-General, the Prime Minister emphasized that the fair solution of the Jammu and Kashmir Tvist, in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions, was imperative to ensure sustained peace in South Asia.

He urged the Secretary -General to play his role in this regard.

It was the third phone call between the two leaders in the past two weeks, the PM office added.

The Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation of the Secretary -General’s leadership and diplomatic efforts to abuse the tense situation in South Asia, which had been seriously threatened by India’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Pakistan.

He noted that the Secretary-General’s continued commitment and preventative diplomacy demonstrated his sustained obligation to maintain the principles and purpose of the UN-Charter as well as promote peace in the region.

The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan had accepted the ceasefire understanding in the greater interest in regional peace.

He confirmed Pakistan’s regular decision to promote peace in South Asia while defending his sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.

He condemned India’s aggression, performed under the false pretext of terrorism and called it a dangerous precedent that warranted the attention of the international community.

He also expressed concern about the continued provocative and inflammatory statements from Indian leadership and described them as a threat to the region’s fragile peace.

The UN Secretary -General welcomed the ceasefire understanding and expanded compassion for the loss of civilian life.

He repeated his commitment to continued commitment with both sides to promote peace and stability in the region and noted that working for international peace was a core responsibility for his office and a global imperative.

The United Nations have confirmed that UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres received a telephone call from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and said they discussed “possible next step” to build on Saturday’s ceasefire between India and Pakistan, which eased tensions between the two South Asian neighbor

“The Secretary-General welcomed the 10th of May-Weapon’s Agreement between India and Pakistan and famous both sides for taking steps to reduce tension,” said his deputy, Farhan Aziz Haq, in response to a question at the regular dinner internship at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

In his telephone call with the UAE president, the Prime Minister of Pakistan confirmed the obligation to maintain the ceasefire, along with its unwavering decision to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also claimed that Pakistan would not let the holiness of the Indus Waters Treaty be challenged in any case.
