Energy Minister Awais Leghari has assured the public that electricity prices will soon be reduced and reject claims that they would not be lowered, Express News reported.

In a speech with the media on Tuesday, he said, “The Prime Minister will soon announce good news. Whether we do the reduction two days earlier or two days later, we will do it as soon as the right time comes.”

Leghari rejected claims that electricity prices would not be lowered and clarified that these reports were inaccurate.

In response to a question of whether the government would pass on the benefits of not reducing oil product prices to the public, he replied, “We are firm in our obligations; our words are not like the previous government.”

It is worth noting that on March 15, the government had decided to keep the prices of oil products at their current levels despite the expectations of a significant price reduction due to international market conditions.
