Karachi:
A low-pressure weather system has formed over the East-Central Arabian Sea around 1,075 kilometers southeast of Karachi, which could be intensified into a deep depression or even a cyclonic storm this weekend, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Thursday.
PMD said the weather system was located southeast of Karachi and went north.
It added that there was currently no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas, but the system was closely monitored by the Cyclone Warning Center (CWC).
Meteorologists said that hot sea surface temperatures burned the system’s growth.
It can develop into a depression within the next 36 hours, and if favorable conditions lasted, it could further strengthen into a deep depression or even a cyclonic storm before May 24 or 25, they added.
