PMD warns fishermen in the middle of cyclone

The Tropical Cyclone Alert Center for Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has advised fishermen to avoid venture into deep waters today (Monday) considering Cyclone Shakti,

The center issued two consecutive alarms on Sunday. According to the 10th alarm issued late Sunday night, the serious cyclone has moved further away from Karachi, but its intensity in the Northwest Arabian Ocean remains unchanged.

The center of the cyclone is now approx. 800 km southwest of Karachi.

Over the past 12 hours, its movement has been in a west/southwest direction, and it is expected to continue to move southwest until October 6 (today).

Over the next 12 hours, it probably goes east towards the west central and the northwestern Arabian Sea, where it will gradually weaken on one step and return to a cyclonic storm. According to the alarm, Gusty can run up to 55 km per hour near the Sindh coast cause hard sea conditions, which advises fishermen to avoid walking in deep waters.

Between October 5 and October 7, the wind speeds can exceed 135 km per hour, which potentially generates very high sea waves, the alarm added. After moving east within the Arabian Sea, the system is expected to be weakened by a category.

The city experienced clear sky and intense sunshine on Sunday. Due to high humidity levels, residents felt noticeable heat during the afternoon.

According to PMD, the maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 32.8 ° C, while the humidity remained 69 percent. The early warning center predicts that the city’s weather on Monday and Tuesday will remain moist with mostly sunny conditions.

Meanwhile, rain is expected accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in different parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad and Punjab over the next 24 hours. A few places are heavy rain and hailstorms are also likely. The weather in other parts of the country is expected to stay warm and dry.
