A newly developed monsoon system began to affect Karachi over the weekend, with light to moderate rain reported in several suburban areas, as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts widespread rain and thunderstorms over Sindh between August 17 and 19.
While the sky mostly remained clear and humid on Sunday, mild to moderate showers were reported in central locations, including Surjani Town, New Karachi and Gulhan-e-Mayar.
According to PMD’s Early Warning Center, tomorrow (Monday) can see moderate rain with thunder and lightning, while Tuesday is likely to bring more heavy rainfall.
“Strong monsoon streams penetrate most parts of Sindh and ensure widespread rain and thunderstorms with periods of moderate to very heavy rain,” it says.
