Islamabad:
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday issued a nationwide warning warning of heavy rain across several districts in Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan, potentially triggers flash floods, landslides and urban floods.
According to the latest counseling, intense showers can cause flooding in streams and nullahs in areas including Murree, Galyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Marran, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Northern Punjab, Balochistan and Kashmir.
Heavy rainfall could also trigger landslides in hilly regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, which potentially disrupt transport and access routes.
PMD has also warned that low -lying urban areas in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar may experience flooding of cities.
Residents have been encouraged to take precautions and avoid unnecessary exposure.
Strong winds that accompany the rain can cause damage to weaker infrastructure, including electricity bars, trees, vehicles and solar panels.

Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated places in the northeastern Punjab, the Potohar region and around DG Khan.
PMD noted that strong monsoon streams derived from the Arabian Sea and Bengal’s Bay, combined with a Western wave, are likely to affect the upper and central parts of the country on Sunday and Monday.
In a related development, NDMA Technical Team Lead and spokesman Dr. Tayyab Shah also a public advice that encouraged citizens to avoid crossing bridges, streams or flooded roads during periods of high -water flow.
In a speech with a local news channel, he called for improved cooperation between agencies to ensure an effective emergency.
