PMD warns of thunderstorms, flash floods in kp

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned on Wednesday of heavy rain and thunderstorms across several districts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and emit flooding alerts for rivers and local streams in the midst of worries for potential landslide in hilly regions.

The alarm was released after the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the province had registered the highest number of losses in rain -related incidents, followed by 21 deaths in Punjab since June 26.

At least 15 deaths were reported in Sindh and five in Balochistan, which brought the national toll to 63 within a week. Early morning showers, accompanied by strong winds, lusted peshawar and nearby areas, bring relief from intense heat and rotate the weather comfortably.

According to PMD, a fresh rain system is likely to continue over the next few days. Peshawar, Marran, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Chitral, Khyber and Orakzai can also experience rain combined with Gusty Vind. Southern parts of the province, including Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, have also been placed on duty.

PMD warned of possible flooding in the Kabul, Swat and Panjkora rivers. Flash flooding in local streams also fears in Swabi, Marran, Mansehra, Kohistan, DIR, SWAT and Shangla. The authority also marked the risk of landslide in mountainous areas that could interfere with road connections and pose safety hazards to residents and travelers.

Temperatures registered over KP during current weather activity included 38 ° C in Peshawar, 42 ° C in both dera Ismail Khan and Bannu, 39 ° C in chitral and 29 ° C in Kalam. Malam Jabba remained the coolest with a registered temperature of 25 ° C.

Residents have been asked to remain cautious and follow weather advisers issued by local authorities.

Monsoon Alert issued to Sindh

PMD’s Early Warning Center has released a monsoon arm for parts of Sindh warning that moderate monsoon streams have begun to enter the southeastern districts.

According to the forecast, Karachi is expected to remain mostly cloudy and humid over the next three days with chances of light rain or drizzle at night and early morning hours.

Precipitation – which ranges from light to moderate – is probably in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar between July 2 and July 4. Light rain or drip can also occur in Badin, Thatatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur and Larkana.
