Islamabad:
PMDC has eased the credit criteria by 5 percent for students seeking access to MBBS and BDS programs across the country.
The one -off relief aims to fill vacant seats at a request from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh. The university called on PMDC to facilitate the admission criteria due to a significant number of unfilled seats.
After thorough consideration, PMDC approved the relaxation in public interest. However, this admission will only apply to the Academic Session 2024-25. MDCAT will not use it as a precedent in any other recording process.
According to the PMDC, the initiative is taken to fill available seats across the country. It has required medical institutions to end the admission process within the given timeframe.
The sources said that medical colleges now have permission to admit students with at least 50 percent brands for MBBS and 45 percent for BDS under the revised criteria. As many as 116 MBBS and 338 BDS seats are unemployed at private medical colleges in Sindh, while 26 MBBs and 100 bds seats in Punjab and 100 bds seats are unfilled.
