ISLAMABAD:
As a relief to medical and dental students, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to register all students and degree holders admitted before 16 January 2023 after the award of their degrees.
This decision has effectively shielded previous batches from the stricter accreditation requirements introduced under the PMDC Act 2022.
In its meeting held on 7 January 2026, the PMDC Council decided that all cases of students and degree holders who were admitted or completed their degrees up to 16 January 2023 will be registered after the award of their degree by the PMDC.
For students admitted after 16 January 2023, it will be mandatory that the degree awarding institution is recognized by the PMDC and that the training center is accredited under Section 25 of the PMDC Act 2022.
This relief applies to qualifications such as MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and various diploma programs obtained from Pakistani universities, institutions and College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). PMDC has directed all eligible candidates to complete the registration process as per the prescribed procedures.
