Islamabad:

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday increased its strength in the National Assembly with the addition of two reserved seats for women from Khyber-Pakhwa (KP), according to a review issued by the Election Commission in Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP informed Samar Haroon Bilor, Saeeda Jamshed Khan as members of the National Assembly. Both names were sent to ECP last month. This addition makes the reigning party’s strength in the 336-strong house to 124.

The names of Bilor and Khan appeared on number 1 and 2 on his priority list for the reserved seats for women who were presented with the provincial election commissioner, who is the recurring officer to fill the two seats.

The seat allocation came when Pakistan Tehreek-In-Insaf was declared not to be entitled to the reserved seats for women and non-Muslims. Consequently, ECP allocated five out of 10 reserved seats from KP to PML-N, three to Jamiat Urvila-e-Islam and two to Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians.
