Karachi: The anti-violent crime cell (AVCC) from the Karachi police Thursday arrested Kamran Asghar Qureshi, father of Armaghan Qureshi the biggest suspect in the notorious Mustafa Amir murder case.
According to Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anil Haider, the arrest came during a police attack in Armaghan’s residence located in Defense Housing Authority’s (DHA) Khayaban-E-Momin neighborhood.
In revealing that ice cream (medicine) and a 9 mm gun were recovered from the suspect, SSP said a case has been recorded and further investigations were underway.
Kamran’s arrest follows an anti-terrorism court (ATC) fifth extension of the primary suspected physical detention in connection with Mustafa’s kidnapping, murder and drug trafficking.
The investigative officer (IO) had previously revealed that Armaghan has admitted to having entrusted his father the entire incident after Mustafa’s killing and added that his father had then advised him to leave Karachi and hide and assure him that they would also move the software house to another place.
The high profiled case also contains the involvement of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other institutions that examine various aspects.
Government attorney, while arguing for ATC, has said that Armaghan was allegedly responsible for delivering hundreds of young people with drugs and also exposing more girls and boys to torture.
The entire saga unfolded after Armaghan opened fire on a team of AVCC – a specialized unit in the Karachi police responsible for tackling cases related to murder and extortion – during a raid in his residence in Karachi’s DHA on February 8.
The deceased’s body – found by the police in a car near the Hub -Check Post on January 12 and buried by the Edhi Foundation on January 16 – was stated and later buried by his family after the identity confirmation in the initial DNA report.
Meanwhile, police have already handed over the laptops that have recovered from Armaghan’s residence to the FIA along with his mobile phones for the necessary analysis.
