A police officer who was injured in an attack on assistant commissioner in Kurram has succumbed to his injuries.

Police sources confirmed the death of the police officer, according to an Express News report.

Yesterday, in the Upper Kurram, three police officers, including assistant commissioner for Kurram, were injured in a firing event aimed at a government convoy that was on the way to convey a ceasefire between two tribes.

SHO stated that while the district administration had successfully conveyed a ceasefire in Upper Kurram, the convoy, sent to negotiate with the other party, came under fire. Assistant Commissioner of Kurram, Manan, who led the convoy, was injured in the attack.

Police reported that the Assistant Commissioner was on his way to Boshhera to maintain peace and order when the firing was opened from the direction of Fatah Khel, Express News reported.

According to police, three other officers were also wounded in the shooting, and the wounded assistant commissioner, Revenue Officer Saeed Manan, was moved to the Operation Theater.

Tribal leader Shafiq Mathari mentioned that the firing was taking place while together with the administration and police they were involved in the ceasefire process. The incident took place Friday morning in Boshhera.

The Kurram District administration stated that security measures are implemented in the area due to the prevailing situation. Meanwhile, a Jirga was also held at the Commissioner’s office in Kohat.

Mrs. DHQ Hospital Parachinar, Dr. Syed Mir Hassan Jan, confirmed that assistant commissioner underwent an operation at DHQ Hospital in Parachinar. He had suffered a gunshot wound on his stomach and was lifted to Peshawar.

MS added that assistant commissioner was transported by ambulance to Helipad for air wastewater after the firing event in Boshhera.

KP Information Advisor expresses support for the wounded assistant commissioner

The information advisor for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lawyer Dr. Saif, visited the combined military hospital (CMH) in Peshawar late Thursday night.

He was accompanied by chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and IG police, Zulfiqar Hamid, reported Express News.

The delegation visited assistant commissioner Saeed Minan, who was wounded in a firing event in the Kurram district and expressed their wishes to his rapid improvement.

Assistant Commissioner Minan was wounded earlier this week in an attack during a law enforcement operation in Kurram.

The local government and security officials have condemned the assault and expanded their support to the wounded officer.

Previously, adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief of State for Information, attorney Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, a Grand Jirga at the Commissioner’s office in Kohat, confirming the government’s obligation to restore peace in the Kurram district.

He emphasized that the ongoing conflict is not a religious or sectarian question, but a result of hatred.

SAIF urged all stakeholders to recognize the devastating consequences of violence and emphasize that no external strength is responsible for loss of life and property rather, it is internal divisions that have given rise to this crisis.

He emphasized that war and hatred bring only destruction and that genuine progress can only be achieved by putting hatred aside and embracing unity.
