Two police officers were martyrated in a gun attack by terrorists in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, police and government officials said Wednesday.
According to police, a terrorist was killed and two others were wounded in retaliatory fire. A Kalashnikov -rifle along with ammunition was derived from the killed militant.
DSP Kulachi Inam Khan confirmed that the officers were on their way to the city to buy the groceries of the household when guns opened fire against them. Police responded quickly and closed the area.

A joint search operation from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the District Police is currently underway in the area.
Funeral beans for the martyred staff were offered in Line Police Headquarters, participated by senior officers from police and CTD.
In a statement from the Governor’s House, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal condemned severely attacked and paid tribute to the fallen officers. He extended inner compassion for the deprived families and prayed for the height of the ranks of the martyrs.
“Police victims of peace and security will not go in vain,” Governor said Kundi. He added that police have sacrificed victims in the fight against terrorism and that the province shares the grief of the victims’ families.

In recent months, violence has escalated in parts of KP. Last month, a police operation in Lakki Marwat’s Kot Kashmir area left three suspected militants and a police constable death.
In a separate incident in May, two police officers were killed, and a wounded when armed attacked attacked a checkpost in Bannu with the help of explosives to break the gate, according to CTD.
