Complainant says in the FIR that Hamza booked a private company taxi and left the house but did not return
Police registered a case against unknown persons after Canadian national Hamza Ahmed was allegedly abducted from Lahore’s Defense A area and launched an investigation into the incident.
Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Lahore, Muhammad Faisal Kamran confirmed the incident and said investigations were on from multiple angles and progress was expected soon.
He formed a special team under the supervision of SP Cantt Division Akhlaq Ullah Tarar. The team includes ASI of Defense Circle and SHO Defense A Khurram Shehzad.
The police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s friend, Yousaf Rashid, under whose supervision Ahmed had been staying.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Ahmed arrived in Pakistan on February 13 in connection with research work for his PhD thesis and was staying at Rashid’s home in Defense A.
The complainant told the police that Ahmed had booked a private company taxi and left the house but did not return.
Police said the team was going through CCTV footage and other evidence in an attempt to trace the abducted man.
The HRCP is seriously concerned by reports that @Hamzakk Ahmed Khan, a political science student at the University of Toronto, has gone missing. Khan was visiting Pakistan for field research and colleagues in Lahore have alleged that he was abducted by unidentified persons on the 19th.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed grave concern over reports that Hamza Ahmed Khan, a political science student at the University of Toronto, has gone missing in Lahore.
In a statement on X, the HRCP said he was in Pakistan for field research when he reportedly disappeared on 19 February. Colleagues in Lahore have claimed that he was abducted by unidentified persons.
“Hamza was visiting Pakistan for field research and colleagues in Lahore have alleged that he was abducted by unidentified persons on February 19. Authorities must trace his whereabouts immediately and ensure his recovery and safe return home.”
