Hyderabad:
Child Safety Commission, a social organization dedicated to preventing abuse of children, has condemned the recent incident with sexual mismatch from a police officer against a prisoner in the youth department of Hyderabad Central Prison. The Commission has called for strict penalties against those responsible.
Members of the Child Safety Commission expressed deep concern about the disturbing incident.
“Such actions not only constitute human rights violations, but also highlights critical deficiencies within the legal systems and criminal care.”
The Commission proposed a robust surveillance system that includes representatives from the judiciary, legal fraternity, human rights organizations, law enforcement, civil society and social welfare groups. They recommended that designated screens carry out prison inspections every 15 days to identify and tackle such events effectively.
The Commission also proposed the installation of a complaint box in the prison site, which allowed child prisoners to report abuse without fear of retaliation.
