Islamabad:
The health authorities have made progress in monitoring of poliovirus and collection of wastewater samples from nine districts. Of these, seven districts have tested positively for poliovirus type 1, including Gwadar, Quetta, South Waziristan, Rawalpindi, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.
However, samples from Pishin and Lahore were declared poliofri.
A total of 45 million children had been vaccinated under three national polio campaigns with more than 400,000 polio workers – including 225,000 women – engaged in the effort.
