Islamabad:
In a latest case of poliovirus, a 33-month-old boy has been curled in District Bannu, who raised Pakistan’s polio count to 12 for the year.
According to the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Exposure at NIH Islamabad, the recent case from Union Council Shamsikhel, District Bannu, The Sixth Polio case from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is this year.
As many as 12 cases of polioviruses are reported in 2025, including six from KP, four from Sindh and one each from Punjab and GB.
While nationwide polio -depletion efforts continue, the southern districts remain KP areas with concern.
