The Polish Space Agency (POLSA) has confirmed that it has recently suffered a cyberattack that forced it to pull the infrastructure offline.
The Agency confirmed the attack via an X post saying that relevant authorities have already been notified.
“There has been a cybersecurity event on POLSA,” the machine translated x post reads. “The relevant services and institutions have been informed. The situation is analyzed. To secure data after the hack, the POLSA network was immediately disconnected from the Internet. We’ll keep you updated. “
Russia is accused
Such a short message left plenty of room for speculation, and certainly some media began to discuss whether this was a ransomware attack. After all, it is standard practice in ransomware attacks to interrupt affected affected infrastructure from the Internet, to prevent data leaks and quickly separate compounds to any persistence mechanisms.
