Political leaders urge parliament to create national consensus on Afghanistan question

Tehreek-E-Tahaffuz-Ein Pakistan held an important leadership meeting at Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, who participated by representatives of various political parties. The movement demanded that a common parliamentary session be convened immediately to formulate a clear and unified national policy on the Afghan situation.

“Developments in Afghanistan have a direct impact on Pakistan. All political forces must be made in confidence to ensure that decisions are made in the national interest,” reads a statement from Tehreek-E-Tahaffuz-Ein Pakistan (TTAP) on Sunday.

The meeting, led by the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, underwent the country’s political situation, the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan and the process of transferring in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

In a statement issued after the meeting, the movement expressed full support to Saudi Arabia’s attitude to the current situation in Afghanistan, emphasizing that Pakistan should seek a sustainable solution of Afghan questions through dialogue and mutual understanding.

It added that the Afghan problem had to be solved on the basis of regional harmony and mutual trust to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

The meeting also expressed deep concern about obstacles in the process of transfer of power in KP and called for the transition to take place “in accordance with the Constitution and without delay.”

“The federal government must refrain from any interference or pressure in this process,” the statement states, claiming that the election of the new chief minister of KP was PTI’s constitutional and democratic law which “can under any circumstances can be violated.”

It warned that if the horse trade, political pressure or other constitutional steps were taken under the election of chief minister, the federal government would bear full responsibility.

The meeting also discussed the broader political challenges facing Pakistan and agreed that despite political differences, compliance with the constitution remains the key to national unity and democracy.

Leaders confirmed their commitment that TTAP would continue its struggle for supremacy of the constitution, protection of democratic values ​​and political stability in the country.

Prominent political figures, including Pakistan Tehreek-In-Insaf leader Salman Akram Raja, former National Assembly Chairman Asad Qaiser, former Sindh-Guvern Muhammad Zubair, Majlis Wahdat-E-Muslime’s Vice-President Alama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi, Balochistan National Party’s Sajid Nareen Zaind participated in the session.
