Rawalpindi:

Residents of Rawalpindi City and Cantonment areas are struggling with poor road conditions caused by lack of maintenance after road cut to underground utilities, such as water supply, gas and sewage lines.

The construction work leaves holes and dust that seriously affects traffic flow and makes daily commutes a nightmare for the locals.

Key roads in areas such as Dhoke Banaras, Dhoke Choudhrian, Westroge-III and People’s Colony in Cantt, as well as Sadiqabad, Muslim city and Mohanpura in the city, have been left in forgery.

Residents complain about delays in maintenance even after the end of underground networking installations.

Muhammad Ajmal, Shabbir Ahmed and Malik Siddique, citizens, criticized the prolonged delay and asked why repairs were not performed immediately after the end of the use work.

RMC officer Rafaqat Gondal explained that delays are often due to waiting for natural grounds to settle after returning.

RCB spokesman Rashid Saqib noted that although the board of directors ensures maintenance in its jurisdiction, the responsibility for projects under Punjab Local Government and Public Health Engineering Department of these respective agencies lies.
