Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday called Pakistan’s annual population growth of 2.55 percent, an alarming trend that requires immediate and coordinated political action at national level to tackle the question.

The Prime Minister was chairman of a high -level meeting at the Prime Minister’s office to review the challenges that Pakistan’s rising population is facing and to consider effective strategies to manage it, says a prime minister’s office news announcement.

“We need extensive planning to ensure that our growing population, especially youth, becomes a productive part of the economy,” he emphasized. “A large segment of our population includes young people who are the most valuable asset to our country.”

He emphasized that the government took several initiatives to strengthen youth and integrate them into the country’s economic mainstream. “There are opportunities to enable our youth to play a key role in national development,” he added.

When talking about gender information, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the critical significance of women’s participation in the workforce. “Women make up a significant part of our human capital. We must ensure greater employment opportunities for them,” he instructed.

The Prime Minister instructed the formation of a committee to develop a comprehensive and effective national policy in close cooperation with provincial governments. “A unified and strategic reaction is the need of the hour,” he claimed, calling for a coordinated federal-province framework to tackle population-related questions.

He also emphasized the importance of launching a nationwide attention campaign to educate citizens on the consequences of uncontrolled population growth, especially in the context of sustainable economic development.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed of various proposals and recommendations for managing population growth. Officials emphasized that any long -term solution would require active provincial cooperation and public engagement at the grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister of Planning and Development Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Education Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister of Information and Disorders Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister of Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister of Law Azam Nazeer Tarar together with older officials from relevant institutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief on Wednesday over the passing of the former Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Mian Allah Nawaz.

The Prime Minister said in a statement that deceased justice Mian Allah Nawaz provided valuable services to the judiciary.

“In this time of grief are all our sympathy with the deceased’s family,” said the Prime Minister, praying for peace for the departed soul and strength for the deprived family to bear the loss.
