Por Afghansan Repatriation set for September

Islamabad:

The Department of Interior on Tuesday issued a formal review on Tuesday to initiate the return of Afghan citizens who have proof of registration cards (POR) cards, which will set September 1 as the start date to repatriate those who do not choose to return voluntarily.

According to the message, the voluntary repatriation process for POR card holders begins immediately, while the mandatory repatriation of remaining individuals begins from September 1st.

The decision was made during a high -level meeting considering increasing security concerns and pressure on national resources.

The announcement clarifies that the ongoing repatriation process for Afghan citizens’ card owners will continue in accordance with the previous decision from the preliminary framework for the return process (IFRP).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will cooperate with relevant international bodies, including the Afghan temporary government, UNHCR and others, to facilitate the return of Afghan refugees.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Safron will provide complete por data to the respective provincial and district levels.

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) will ensure the delimitation of the return of Afghans in transit areas and border terminals. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been tasked with supporting the return process at designated border crossing points.

All provincial governments and relevant agencies have been asked to map all por card holders within their jurisdictions.
