Power cuts were reported across several parts of Karachi in the midst of heavy rain since Tuesday morning, with many areas still thrown into darkness, leaving Netizen’s frustrated as they struggle with daily disturbances and limited access to important services.
At least seven people were reported on dead heavy monsoon rains beaten the city, flooded neighborhoods, paralyzed traffic and knocked power out and caused the mayor to enforce a rain emergency.
Spokesman for K-Electric (KE) said Karachi’s drainage system was overwhelmed by precipitation, who far exceeded its designed capacity, resulting in urban areas over the flood of the city and complicated power restoration work in several localities.

In a statement, the tool claimed that its distribution system remains stable, but added that the security of life and property and the prevention of accidents remains the highest priority. “At present, more than 1,285 of the city’s 2,100 feed are operational,” the spokesman said, noting that delivery of recovery continues where the conditions allow.
KE said that standing rainwater in different areas continues to prevent restoration efforts as safety preparations are required before earth teams can start working. “As soon as the water level disappears and safety is confirmed by teams on the ground, restoration work resumes in the affected areas,” the spokesman added.
