Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday that a package was prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electricity stars, which would soon be announced.
Shahbaz, chairman of a review meeting on the issues related to the power department, emphasized that there was no change in government policy and priorities regarding solar energy.
“Promoting renewable energy is the government’s priority,” the prime minister said while talking about the meeting. “There has been no change in government policy and priorities regarding solar energy.”
The Prime Minister instructed the authorities concerned to remove all ambiguities found among the public about the solarization policy by presenting the facts and figures.
He ordered to accelerate the process of privatization of power distribution companies (discos). “All legal and other issues regarding generational companies should be resolved as soon as possible,” he told the participants.
Shehbaz said the public would get more relief in electricity prices after the reforms in the electricity sector. “A package is prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electricity stars, which will soon be announced.”
The Prime Minister directed further improvement in coordination between the Power Division, the Water Resources Division and the Petroleum Division for a comprehensive strategy of the energy sector.
