Lahore:
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has rejected the federal budget and expressed strong reservations about the Punjab government’s alleged ignorance of the party in the budget making process and triggered a war with words between PPP’s Hassan Murtaza and Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari.
Hassan Murtaza, Secretary General of PPP Central Punjab, said the party was not consulted and its proposal was included in the budget.
“The people will receive no relief from either the federal or the expected Punjab budget,” he said, criticizing the government’s economic policies, claiming that the region’s peace was threatened by a ‘modi style’ mindset.
Murtaza also used the opportunity to launch a scare criticism of international powers, especially the United States and Israel, and questioned the credibility of global institutions such as the United Nations.
“The Muslim Ummah is forced to recite verses by jihad; this is the same strategy that Modi is used against Pakistan,” he said, adding that Pakistan must strengthen his economy as much as his defense.
He paralyzed the introduction of heavy taxes in agriculture and called it a death button for farmers. “From gasoline to fertilizer and seeds everything is taxed. And yet wheat is sold cheaply, while sugar cane is bought on credit and sugar is sold in cash,” he said.
Murtaza accused the Punjab government of serving a Sugar Mill mafia and claimed that Rose Water worth RS320 million was sprayed on Laorrest’s roads, while basic facilities remained inaccessible to the poor.
He also criticized Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for allegedly abuse of public funds for personal branding. “Maryam Nawaz is so obsessed with self -promotion that even trash can carry her picture. But she can’t include the prime minister, her own uncle, in these pictures,” he said.
He hit back to the provincial government’s performance and said it had not delivered during his 16-month tenure. “If you put your face on trash cans, you also need to own up for inflation,” he noted. He also condemned the recent introduction of 18% tax on solar panels and said that future taxes on essential things like oxygen would be the logical next step if such policies continued.
Murtaza criticized the 10% salary increase for government employees and denoted the inadequate and required an increase of 50% instead.
He also condemned what he called the humiliation of medical professionals and accused the government of pushing different departments to protest against CHARING CROSS rather than enabling them to earn in offices.
While repeating PPP’s obligation to institutional reform, Murtaza said his party was ready to work with the government to resolve the system but would not support exploitative policy.
He also opposed the proposed advertising fitting and urged Pakistan to adapt stronger with neighboring Iran.
In a sharp counter -movement, Punjab -Information Minister Azma Bukhari Murtaza rejected comments and said, “A person who couldn’t even win his own seat should not submit us.” She claimed that even in private gatherings, even Murtaza admitted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s governance was the real reason why PPP lost ground in Punjab.
“Maryam Nawaz doesn’t just make promises she meets them. She delivers real relief to people and translates dreams into reality,” Bukhari said. With reference to Murtaza’s recent visit to Sambrial, she said he had witnessed the government’s work from first.
Bukhari threw the PPP leader to reject a budget that had not even been presented. “This shows the state of your political judgment,” she added. She emphasized that governments with vision can show results, even in 16 months, while the lack of direction fails even after 16 years.
