Pakistan Peoples Party has filed a motion of no confidence against Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and nominated Faisal Rathore for the post.
Senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that the party enjoys the required strength of members and is confident that it will form the government in AJK. Rathore belongs to Haveli district of Azad Kashmir and his father was associated with PPP.
The requisition for the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq has been submitted with signatures of the members of the assembly. The secretary of the assembly hands over the copies of the signed proposal to the speaker and to all members at the earliest.
After presenting the motion of no confidence, the secretary of the assembly is obliged to include it in the list of cases within three to seven days. Once listed, the Speaker of the Assembly is constitutionally required under Article 18 to set a date for a vote on the motion.
The general meeting cannot be adjourned until the vote has been completed, when the date for the vote has been set. But if the vote of no confidence fails, no new proposal can be submitted for the next six months.
