PPP Punjab advised to be patient with Maryam Govt

Lahore:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders from Punjab handed out a flood of complaints against the Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab government during a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari, who did not offer any specific insurance policies to resolve the concerns, according to sources

President Zardari, who was in Punjab for riding events, met with Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan and PPP’s parliamentary party members of the Governor’s House on Wednesday. Former Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood was also present.

During the meeting, party leaders expressed frustration at what they called the Punjab government’s non -compliance with coalition agreements, especially with regard to administrative affairs.

Their complaints concentrated on the alleged abuse of the provincial administration.

Sources interested in the meeting revealed that PPP leaders regretted being treated as a “friendly opposition” rather than coalition partners and neglected their administrative concerns, even in areas where they have a majority.

They claimed that their constituencies were neglected in development projects, which complained that the government machinery turns a deaf ear to their concerns and refuses to recognize them at least.

The leaders urged Zardari to escalate the question to the federal level and said that several previous meetings that have taken place in the recent past did not produce results.

They also warned that the current arrangement was a thorn in PPP’s side in Punjab. A leader also assessed the president of the deteriorating security situation in South Punjab.

According to Insiders, President Zardari assured the leaders that he would take up the matter with the PML N leadership, but reminded them that the coalition was formed by necessity rather than election.

He reportedly conveyed that the questions would be addressed before the next budget while recognizing PPP’s efforts to hold PML-N responsible for their obligations. He urged party leaders to roll up his sleeves and work harder to secure PPP’s comeback in the province while reinforcing public worries.

However, a Punjab -Leader expressed skepticism about the insurance and said it only indicated that the provincial leaders had only any choice other than a soldier at the same event.

He claimed that Maryam Nawaz was too strong to follow advice – even from her uncle, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Nevertheless, he claimed that PPP at least at least would not share ways with the coalition for Punjab’s sake.

The meeting attended the PPP parliamentary leader Ali Haider Gillani, Sardar Mumtaz Ali Chang, Mian Wasif Mazhar Raan, Rais Nabeel, Rana Iqbal Siraj, Qazi Ahmed Saeed, Mian Kamran Abdullah Malal, Syed Aamir Shah, Habibur Rehman Chang, Inam Bari, Narri, Narri, Nargis Faiz Faiz Malik, Neelum Jabbar and Shazia Abid.
