Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh energy minister Nasir Shah has warned that the party can share ways with the federal government if the channel-related question is not resolved at the upcoming meeting of the Council for Common Interest (CCI).

In a speech with the media after a meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders at the party’s headquarters on Sunday, Shah said, “If the question of channels is not solved at the CCI meeting, PPP will differ from the government.”

He emphasized that the channel question has a serious impact on Sindh and has united people all over the province. “On the channel question, everyone is in Sindh on the same page, and MQM has also expanded its full support to PPP both in the Sindh assembly and the National Assembly,” he said.

Shah expressed confidence that the case would be resolved, citing strong coordination among Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “I am convinced that the decision made between the Prime Minister, the President and President Bilawal will be final,” he said.

He warned that if PPP leaves the coalition, the federal government may not survive. “We know that if PPP leaves the government, it will not be able to continue. Therefore, we expect the government to fulfill its promise of the channel question.”

A PPP delegation, led by Shah and including senior leaders Waqar Mehdi and Saeed Ghani, met with MQM-P leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haque and others to discuss more political issues. During the meeting, PPP MQM-P requested to withdraw his candidate from the upcoming Senate’s election to a vacant seat.

In a speech with journalists after the meeting, Dr. Farooq Sattar that MQM-P would consult his central committee before making a decision on OPPS request. “One last response will be given after internal discussions,” he said, adding that the proposed changes to the local government system were also discussed during the meeting.
