Islamabad: The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued announcements of permanent appointment of the right of chief to all four high courts in the country after the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the message, justice Sarfraz Dogar has been appointed Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court. Justice Junaid Ghaffar has been named Sindh High Court’s Chief Justice.

In Balochistan, justice Rozi Khan Bareech has been appointed Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, while Justice Atiq Shah has been notified as Chief Justice for Peshawar High Court.

Development came a week after the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) nominated permanent chief contemporary for four high courts.

In February, five IHC judges had moved the pointed right to the appointment of Justice Dogar as acting Chief Justice of IHC, as well as the transfer of three Supreme Court judges to their court.

The placement was filed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan and Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz.

However, the supreme court, on June 19, rejected the pleas against the transfer of judges and gave up that Justice Dogar could continue to work as IHC’s functioning Chief Justice.

Later, President Asif Ali Zardari formally declared justice Dogar the “senior-most judge” after the issue of a revised seniority list of the Ministry of Law and Justice.

It is relevant to know that the five IHC judges filed an Intra Court of Justice (ICA) against SC’s judgment on June 19.

In their plea, the judges called on the order of the constitutional bench to be “remembered and set aside […] of the interest of justice ”.

“Under the dependence on the immediate appeal, this honest court may graciously provide temporary relief as prayed in the accompanying temporary relief application. Any other relief that this honest court can consider as appropriate and correct can also be assigned,” the petition said.
