President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday approved the confirmation and extension of tenure of additional judges of the High Courts of Sindh, Lahore and Peshawar in accordance with the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
For the Sindh High Court, the President approved the confirmation of 10 additional judges. They include Justices Miran Muhammad Shah, Tasneem Sultana, Riazat Ali Sahar, Muhammad Hasan, Abdul Hamid Bhurgi, Jan Ali Junejo, Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro, Ali Haider ‘Ada’, Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi and Muhammad Jaffer Raza.
In addition, six months extension was given to Justices Khalid Hussain Shahani and Syed Faiz ul Hassan Shah.
In the Lahore High Court, 11 additional judges were confirmed. They are Justices Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Sardar Akbar Ali, Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Malik Javed Iqbal Wains, Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Khalid Ishaq, Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid, Ch. Sultan Mahmood, Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh and Abher Gul Khan.

The President also approved a six-month extension of Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa’s tenure as an Additional Judge of the Lahore High Court.
For the Peshawar High Court, the confirmation of six additional judges was approved. They include Justices Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Abdul Fayaz, Salah ud Din, Sadiq Ali, Syed Mudasser Ameer and Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah.
A six-month extension was also given to Justices Farah Jamshed, Inam Ullah Khan, Sabit Ullah Khan and Aurangzeb.
The approvals complete a significant round of judicial confirmations and extensions across the three high courts.
