President assigns remission to prisoners on Pakistan Day, Eidul Fitr

On the occasion of Pakistan Day and Eid Ul Fitr, President Asif Ali Zardari announced a 180-day special remission in judgments for certain prisoners.

The remission assigned under Article 45 of the Constitution does not apply to persons convicted of serious crimes such as murder, espionage, anti-state activities, rape, theft, robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, economic crimes, offenses causing losses to national treasury, or violations of aliens, 1946, and 1946. deficit), 20222.

The remission will primarily benefit male prisoners aged 65 and over, who have earned at least one -third of their verdict, as well as female prisoners aged 60 and over who meet the same criteria.

Female prisoners detained with children and adolescents offenders under the age of 18 who have served one -third of their sentence will also be eligible for the remission.

The federal government on Wednesday officially announced the holidays for Eidul Fitr, starting from March 31 to April 2.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat stated that the Prime Minister has declared these dates as holidays to celebrate Eidul Fitr.

The holiday season ranges from Monday to Wednesday so that citizens can observe the festivities and celebrate the apartment.
