Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan supported Pakistan’s efforts to proclaim terrorism in the country after holding a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Ankara on Tuesday.
PM Shehbaz, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived in the Turkish capital on a two-day official visit earlier today.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Information and Issue Attaullah Tarar and special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi is part of the prime minister’s delegation.
“We welcome Shehbaz Sharif at his arrival at Turkiye. Mutual contacts are a sign of a strong friendship,” said President Erdogan, while approaching a joint pressing with PM Shehbaz after a one-to-one meeting.
President Erdogan said Pakistan was determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and supported Islamabad’s efforts to deal with the challenge of military.
He also emphasized that the fraternal countries have convergence on global issues.
When he spoke to the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Turkish President for extending a warm welcome upon his arrival.
The premiere said Turkey has made exemplary progress under the leadership of President Erdogan.
“I am grateful for Turkiye’s collaboration on terrorism,” said the prime minister, adding that the two countries agreed to cooperate in minerals, that and other sectors.
Pakistan, Turkiye Raises to increase ties
At the forefront of the common press, Pakistan and Turkiye satisfaction with the positive trajectory of multifaceted bilateral connections and repeated their commitment to further strengthen their bilateral strategic partnership, promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region.
The bilateral ties and cooperation were discussed during the bilateral meeting between PM Shehbaz and Turkish President Erdogan.
The meeting emphasized the sustained fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye and confirmed their obligation to further elaborate on bilateral cooperation across different sectors.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of improving economic cooperation, especially through joint ventures and bilateral investments.
He highlighted the potential for collaboration in energy and mining, joint ventures in defense and AGRI production, which improved regional and bilateral connection to increase trade and improve the exchange of people, in addition to elaborating on cooperation in new technologies such as artificial intelligence and cyber security.
During the discussions, both leaders noted about the follow -up actions made regarding the decisions of the 7th high level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) held in Islamabad on February 13, 2025.
Both leaders showed satisfaction with the course of the multifaceted bilateral cooperation between the fraternal countries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Erdogan also discussed regional and global issues and confirmed their support for each other about issues of national interest.
Both leaders expressed their obligation to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye and promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region.
President Erdogan also hosted a knock in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the accompanying delegation.
