Lahore/Karachi:
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday strongly convicted Afghanistan’s recent provocations and confirmed that Pakistan would defend his national sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats.
In their separate declarations, the president and Prime Minister repeated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and emphasized that mutual cooperation, financial partnership and security coordination remain important for lasting stability and prosperity in South Asia.
President Zardari noted in a statement from Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) media cell that there were UN reports that “proved” terrorist attacks were carried out from the Afghan Earth. However, he also emphasized that joint terrorism efforts were the key to long -term regional peace.
When Zardari claimed that no compromise will be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty, Zardari said that attacks launched from the Afghan Taliban regime is a well-documented reality confirmed in successive the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reports.
President Zardari called on the Afghan Taliban regime to take “concrete and verifiable acts” against anti-Pakistani terror elements operating from the Afghan earth. He called the threat of terrorism “sponsored by India” as the “greatest threat to regional peace and stability”.
In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz paid tribute to the Pakistani army for his “effective and extensive” reaction to Afghanistan’s provocations and to successfully targeted against terrorists operating from the entire border.
He paid tribute to professionalism from the armed forces to defend the nation’s borders and paid tribute to the 23 security personnel who embraced martyrdom in the terrorist surgery. “I’m proud of Pakistan’s armed forces’ professional expertise.”
The prime minister reiterated that any aggression action would be met with a strong and effective answer. He assured the families of the martyrs in the country’s eternal gratitude and asked for the improvement of the wounded.
Shehbaz said Pakistan had repeatedly shared information with the Afghan Taliban regime about the presence of terror elements such as Fitna-E-Khawarij and Fitna-E-Hindustan using Afghan Territory to carry out attacks.
He urged the Afghan Taliban regime to ensure that its land was not used against Pakistan, and warned that attempts to undermine the country’s security would be met with decisive actions.
