President, Prime Minister Invitation to Global Unit to Maintain Peace, Justice

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have confirmed Pakistan’s unshakable commitment to the principles of peace and justice.

In separate messages issued on the International Peace Day, observed on Sunday (today), they called on the international community to prioritize dialogue, cooperation and development over confrontation.

President Zardari said Pakistan is ready to play a positive role in establishing a peaceful, fair and sustainable world, adding that the country’s contribution to global and regional peace and stability is recognized internationally.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the serious humanitarian tragedies that unfolded in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the occupied Palestinian territories.

He emphasized that lasting peace will remain an evasive dream until the population of these regions gets their right to self -determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) decisions.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is ready to play his role and called on the international community to join forces in the struggle for peace, justice and humanity.

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan again pressed unsc from demanding an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

With the Council of Council, Pakistan’s permanent representative of the UN ASIM IFTIKHAR AHMED Islamabad’s “unwavering support” to the Palestinian right to self -determination and called for an end to Israeli military operations.

He said that Pakistan “stands with humanity, justice and international law,” and noted that Gaza’s civilians remain under merciless bombardment and blockade, with children starving, hospitals destroyed and families lacking food, medicine and shelter.

Ahmed emphasized that Pakistan stands with most of the council members and the wider UN membership in reflecting the international community’s expectations of an urgent stop for the matches.
