Islamabad:
President Asif Ali Zardari said Tuesday that Pakistan and Russia have tremendous potential needed to be exploited to expand the bilateral partnership in trade, investment, technology and exchange of people.
The president made these remarks as the main guest at the special ceremony celebrating the 35th national day of the Russian Federation held in the federal capital.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, special assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Fatemi and members of the diplomatic corps participated in the event.
The president declared that Pakistan considers Russia an important global power that has been a key player to secure regional peace and stability, especially in the Eurasian region.
President Zardari expanded his sincere congratulations to president of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, ambassador to Russian Federation Albert Khorev as well as to the people of Russia.
“On this significant apartment, Pakistan ends up to Russia by celebrating this national day, reflecting our solidarity and friendship. I am pleased to state that our bilateral relations have improved over the years, based on mutual respect, cooperation and common interests in various areas,” the president said.
He said there have been extensive high -level interactions between the two countries that had laid the basis for deeper commitment and understanding. Pakistan and Russia are also continuing to work closely on regional and international platforms, he added.
The president emphasized that SAPM Tariq Fatemi had a promising meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister in Moscow early this month, with both sides emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the region.
“I am convinced that the friendships between Pakistan and Russia continue to strengthen. When we celebrate this important apartment tonight, let’s confirm our commitment to building bridges for understanding and collaboration between our two nations. Let’s grab the opportunities that lie ahead and work together for a brighter and more prosperous future. Long Live Pakistan-Russia friendship,” President Zardari said.
In the past, in his welcome address, Ambassador Khorev emphasized that Russia remains a superb, powerful and elastic nation, driven by the unwavering support of its people. As reflected on President Putin’s words, the ambassador noticed that Russia has historically played a unifying role in the region that extends “from Baltics to the Caucasus.”
When they highlighted the constant progress of the relationship between Pak-Russia, Ambassador Khorev declared that bilateral cooperation is moving forward at a satisfactory pace across different sectors.
He expressed appreciation of Pakistan’s growing interest in Russian language and culture.
“We praise Pakistani enthusiasm for learning the Russian language,” he noted. “The Russian mission actively supports the establishment and expansion of language learning institutions across the country.”
The ambassador also confirmed Russia’s continued support to Pakistan on various international platforms and noted that both nations work together to elaborate on the tape in education, diplomacy and mutual development.
The event ended with Russian musician’s performance on folk.
