President to tackle joint sitting

Islamabad:

President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to tackle a common session for parliament in the coming month to start the new parliamentary year.

This will be Zardari’s second address to the 16th National Assembly. He approached the House of House on April 18, 2024 at the beginning of the first parliamentary year.

This will be Zardari’s eighth address to parliament as PPP co-chair, during his first term as president between 2008 and 2013, dealt with joint parliamentary sessions six times.

According to sources, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has begun to prepare for the session and have acquired data with regard to the performance of the federal government in the first year.

They said in his address that the president will discuss the government’s economic policies, political situation and national challenges. He will also highlight the government’s results in the past year and current proposals for improving the political situation.

All four governors, chief ministers, heads of the armed forces and diplomatic representatives participate in the session. Key figures will also be invited to Parliament’s joint session.

Under Article 56 of the Constitution, the President is aiming for parliamentary joint session at the beginning of the parliamentary year.
