Washington: US President Donald Trump has shared a forgery of himself dressed up as the pope on his truth’s social platform after joking that he would like to be the next Catholic Pontiff.

The president is seen in what seems to be an AI-generated color image, with his right index finger pointed to the sky, wearing papal regalia, including white robes, a gold crucifix pendant and the miter hat.

It comes after Trump joked with reporters this week that he would like to be the next pope just days before the Cardinals have to start the Conlamer to choose the successor of Pope Francis, who died on April 21.

When asked who he would like to have subsequently Pope Francis, Trump said, “I want to be a pope, that would be my first choice.”

Trump continued to say he did not have a preference but said there was a cardinal in New York that was “very good.”

He seemed to refer to the Archbishop of New York, Timothy Dolan, a theological conservative and violent against abortion.

Trump attended the funeral service of Pope Francis last week, his first foreign journey since returning to power.

About 20% of Americans declare themselves Catholic, and exit vote in November stated that they voted about 60% in favor of Trump.

Pope Francis had undoubtedly been one of the most powerful moral voices on the world scene that is critical of Trump.

When Trump first ran for president in 2016, Francis was harmless with his signature boost to build a border wall to seal Mexico.

Francis told journalists, “Anyone, no matter what he is who only wants to build walls and not bridges, is not a Christian.”

Cardinals gather on May 7 in a Conclave in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel to choose a new pope.
