President Asif Ali Zardari reached Chengdu on Friday on a 10-day visit to China. The invitation was expanded by the Chinese government, the Associated Press of Pakistan (app) reported.
Upon arrival at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, the president was warmly received by Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province, Huang Ruixue.
Pakistan’s ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong were also present to welcome the president’s, a presidency’s news message said.
In addition to Chengdu, the president will also visit Shanghai and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region during his stay in China from September 12 to 21 and hold meetings with provincial leadership, the president’s spokesman said in a statement.
Discussions will include Pakistan-China bilateral relations with a special focus on financial and trade cooperation, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and future connection initiatives.
The two sides also exchange views on bilateral cooperation on the multilateral forum. The visit emphasizes the tradition of high -level exchange between Pakistan and China, in addition to confirming mutual support to the issues of core interests, promoting financial and trade cooperation, including CPEC, and to highlight their common commitment to regional peace, development and stability.
