President Zardari congratulates President Xi on Lunar New Year, confirms Pakistan-China-tap

President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the Chinese spring festival and the arrival of the year of the snake.

In his message, President Zardari expressed his strong obligation to further strengthen the long -standing relationship between Pakistan and China. He conveyed his eagerness to meet with President XI in Beijing to discuss improving bilateral cooperation.

The president recognized the resilience of the two nations as strategic cooperative partners throughout. He highlighted the tireless efforts of successive leaderships in both countries that have contributed to the growth of their unique and robust partnership.

President Zardari confirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support to one China policy and called it a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He also thanks deep President XI for his leadership in promoting the China-Pakistanic Economic Corridor (CPEC) and strengthening bilateral relations.

The president paid tribute to China’s considerable progress in 2024 across different sectors and repeated his belief in the sustained and ever -evolving friendship between the two nations. He ended up wishing President Xi good health and prosperity for both him and the Chinese people.

The Chinese Spring Festival, which marks the beginning of a new year of year, began on January 29, 2025 and is traditionally considered a time of renewal and partying.

Yesterday, Sindh Minister Ziaul advised Hassan Lanjar Chinese citizens who padded Sindh High Court (SHC) against alleged police harassment to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) created to tackle such concerns.

In a speech with the media on Monday, Lanjar emphasized that Chinese citizens should channel their complaints through the Chinese consulate or the foreign office, per. Protocols that are jointly conceived by the Sindh government and the Chinese consulate.

“These petitions have no direct investment in Pakistan, and their petition is not legal sound either,” the minister noted. He added that he had instructed the police inspector (IG) to form a team to engage with the Chinese Consul General in Karachi to solve the problem.

Lanjar repeated the Sindh government’s respect for Chinese citizens, but emphasized the importance of complying with official procedures. “We value our Chinese partners a lot, but they have to follow the SOPs that the government has put into collaboration with Chinese authorities,” he said.

The minister also announced plans to meet with the Chinese Consul General to make an official statement and resolve the concerns.
