President Asif Ali Zardari has convened the 12th session of the 16th National Assembly on January 13, 2025 at 17.00 in the Parliament House.

The session has been convened under Article 54(1) of the Constitution, under the powers vested in the President, Express News reported.

The National Assembly Secretariat confirmed the announcement.

The upcoming session, the National Assembly’s first for 2025, is expected to address critical legislative issues and discussions crucial to national governance. It will mark the 12th meeting of the current assembly.

The government is also expected to present various bills in the session for legislation. It will also present the routine agenda of this session.

Government-opposition talks will continue during the NA session, which comes amid the round of talks between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government.

However, PTI’s negotiation process with the government seems to be facing several hurdles, especially regarding access to Imran Khan. Barrister Gohar Khan and other PTI leaders have consistently emphasized the importance of direct communication with their party founders to finalize any demands or proposals.

The government’s reluctance or inability to facilitate such meetings not only delays progress but also fosters mistrust between the parties.
