President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Donald Trump on becoming the 47th President of the United States.
President Zardari conveyed his best wishes to the new US president, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sentiments in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“I look forward to working with him to further strengthen the long-standing partnership between the United States and Pakistan,” Prime Minister Shehbaz wrote.
Highlighting the decades-old cooperation, the prime minister added: “For years, these two great nations have worked together to promote peace and prosperity in the region for their people. We will continue this cooperation in the future.”
Donald Trump is sworn in for a second term
Donald Trump vowed to usher in a new era of American greatness minutes after being sworn in as president for a second term to complete an extraordinary political comeback from two assassination attempts, a felony conviction and an indictment for trying to overturn his election loss in 2020.
“The golden age of America is beginning right now,” he said.
Trump took the oath of office to “preserve, protect and defend” the US Constitution inside the US Capitol, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. His vice president, JD Vance, was sworn in right before him.
