President Asif Ali Zardari will embark on a state visit to China from February 4 to February 8 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasizing the two countries’ long -standing strategic ties, the Foreign Ministry (MOFA) confirmed on Monday.

During his stay in Beijing, President Zardari is set to hold high -level meetings with President XI, Premier Li Qiang and other senior Chinese officials.

Discussions will cover a wide range of connections on Pakistan-China with a focus on financial and trade cooperation, security cooperation and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The two sides will also exchange views on regional and global geopolitical development and collaboration in multilateral forums.

In addition to official negotiations, President Zardari will attend the initial ceremony for the 9th Asian winter matches in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, on the Chinese government’s special invitation.

His participation highlights growing cultural and diplomatic exchanges between the two nations.

Pakistan and China share a long-lasting alliance, often described as a “strategic cooperative partnership with All-Weather.”

The visit is expected to strengthen mutual obligations in the most important financial and security issues, confirming Pakistan’s strong ties to its largest trading and investment partner.

President Zardari’s trip comes at a crucial time as Pakistan tries to revive his economy and strengthen the regional connection through CPEC, a flagship project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The visit is likely to result in new agreements aimed at elaborating on economic cooperation and tackling regional security challenges.

According to MOFA, with both countries facing changing geopolitical dynamics, the visit is considered a confirmation of their long -standing diplomatic and financial obligations, strengthening a partnership that has been a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
